Observations

We snowshoed up to The Castle and observed highly variable conditions including places with a thick icy crust and locations where a few inches of blown snow had accumulated on top of the icy crust.
Along the south edge of Reflection Lake there was about 2 inches in depth of very large grain crystal material. Below the crystals was a very firm crust. The material appeared to be limited to the area very close to the lake.
