Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

Saw some interesting crystals, almost a mashup of ribbon ice with surface hoar, at the XC trail (pictured).
In the afternoon toured up the S face of Herman from Bagley. Snow surface was nice and corny, but in a few sheltered spots found surface hoar. Poking over the ridge onto the N face the snow was dry and had weak hoar/facets on the surface. Light wind from the south.
