Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

Above treeline thick hard snow at the top of the snow pack with shallow corn developing on solar slopes and patches of wind blown shallow melting recent snow.

Near treeline thick firm snow at the top of the snow pack and areas of 1-2 inches of melting recent snow.

Below treeline also thick firm snow at the top of the snow pack and when on foot occasional deeper boot pen into moist or wet snow.
