Avalanche Type:
Wet Loose
Size:
Size 2: Could bury, injure, or kill a person
Elevation:
6,000 feet
Aspect:
SE
Comments:
Came across a wet loose avalanche debris field of roughly 30 feet across and ran about 200 feet on a SE slope in the vicinity of Union Rules. It was frozen and most likely happened on the afternoon of 1/16. Wouldn’t want to be caught in it, big enough to bury a person. Most likely triggered by a large rollerball that broke lose from the rocks above.
None reported
We didn’t see any natural rollerballs activity today as of 1pm but the S and SE slopes were definitely warming up and the skiing conditions were getting sloppy below 5,500 feet.
