Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

Ski toured around Bennett Pass on Saturday. Snow softened on N/NW aspects in the trees for decent skiing by mid-day. Snow remained firmer, but edge-able in areas with more sun exposure. We observed faceted surface snow resembling hoar frost at 4500' on NW facing slopes around 12:30pm. Scattered clouds, light wind, temps above freezing for almost all of the day.
