Snowpack Observations

I saw wind affected snow on all aspects and elevations including well below treeline. Surface conditions are a mixed bag ranging between firm wind buff, old breakable crust, and chalky soft snow. There's some preserved settled storm snow 4-10cm deep in sheltered areas.

The distribution of loading is generally pocket-y and discontinuous--I had to look hard to find any open slope that was smooth all the way across. I kicked off a few isolated panels of shallow slab on lee features.
