Thin clouds lingered just above ridge tops. Cold temps and wind kept sun effects at bey. Moderate east wind event. Winds aloft SE in the early AM becoming more east through the day. Wind funneled by accelerated by Nason creek and other drainages in the Hwy 2 corridor. Affecting typical locations for east wind events. Blowing snow intensity varied by location.
no new avalanches
Extensive slope testing and quick tests show 2/19 storm snow continues to bond w overall good stability. Sun formed crusts on SE-SW aspects and thinner, zipper crusts on E and W. Cracking and wind transport on fresh wind features at 5,300ft ridge. The ski penetration decreased since the 20th and was roughly 30cm.

Comments: Most significant wind drifting above treeline on NW-SW leeward sides of ridges. To a lesser extent, drifting on favored near treeline ridges such as Tye Pk, Moonlight, etc. Locations outside of typical east wind channeling (e.g. Josephine Pk) remained unaffected by wind. Some drainages channeled wind to non-easterly directions. Not enough transport below treeline to create hazard. |
