Very low visibility, moderate snowfall, strong gusty winds from the west, notable snow transport below and at treeline. Observed new snow included stellar dendrites, graupel, and freezing rain.
Snowpit below treeline at 5500 feet showed 2 crusts 40 and 100 cm from the surface. Snow appeared to be bonding well to each of the crusts. Snow on top of the upper crust was storm slab. Shallow wind slabs were found on isolated features in the area. At treeline (6000ft), a reactive 12-14 inch wind slab was found.

Layer Depth/Date: 12-14 inches 12/23/21 |
Reactive 12-14 inch windslab was found at treeline. Due to the high winds and amount of snow available for transport, slabs could be much larger at higher elevations.
