Comments:

A large natural avalanche released on rock slab (Hot Rocks) behind Crater Rock with debris running 1200ft onto the Zigzag Glacier near Illumination Saddle. The avalanche occurred sometime 3/7-9; observers in the immediate area on 3/7 did not see the avalanche. The avalanche appeared to be a combination snow/icefall avalanche with glide characteristics. Heat from the fumaroles around the Hot Rocks likely contributed to the avalanche release.
