Avalanche Occurrence

(1/8/2022) A very large natural avalanche occurred on an east aspect near 10,000ft on the upper Newton Clark Glacier below the Black Spider. The avalanche ran during the storm cycle from January 2-7, likely on the 6th. The crown is over 10ft deep in places and debris ran 4500ft downslope into Newton Creek. This very large natural avalanche occurred during the storm cycle January 2-7th. It likely ran on the 6th during the peak precipitation intensity, warming, and highest winds throughout the storms. The avalanche occurred on an east aspect near 10,000ft on the upper Newton Clark Glacier below the Black Spider. The crown is over 10ft deep in places and debris ran 4500ft downslope into Newton Creek.
