Comments:
Was able to trigger multiple -D1 wind slabs an all elevations at all aspects on the skin track and ridge to East Peak + Norse Peak. As of 1/2 around noon, the wind crust slab was 4-6 inches thick. In one location, a hand / ski pole test next to the skin track generated a ~9ish deep snow slab release. Wind has clearly impacted all aspects and elevations - including in more gladed areas. Hollow snow in isolated areas as we approached the top of the ridge.
Did you see shooting cracks?
No
Did you experience collapsing or whumpfing?
Yes, Isolated
Adding in a plea for dog owners who choose to bring their dogs into the backcountry with them to please bag their dog poop. I don't want to skin or ski over your dogs remnants, please be a responsible dog owner and clean up after your pet!
