AM: Clear skies, calm winds, and cold temps (11 F). PM: Broken skies, light snow (S-1), and cold temps. 65cms boot pen of light (F- to 4F) hardness snow
-Numerous loose dry sz 1-2 observed on all aspects in steep terrain near the base of features
-Numerous old (suspect wind slab) crowns on various aspects in steep terrain near the base of features
Dug a quick test profile in a wind-affected SE facing feature at 5050'. The upper snowpack gradually increases in density (F- to 1F) until reaching the graupel layer down 102cms. The Solstice crust (2021-12-27 MFcr) was observed down 150cms in our digging location. HS 350cms
We observed consistent hard sudden planar results on 2mm graupel down 102cms (CTH 22 (SP) down 102cms on 2.0mm graupel). We conducted two ECTs with no results (ECTX). We conducted a deep ECT on the 2.0mm graupel with no results.
