Distinct layer from the rain/freezing rain warmup on Saturday 12/18, about 1 foot down.
Snow failed easily on this layer (CTE2), but we did not experience any issues while enjoying some low angle mellow terrain. Crust was evident and firm on both uphill travel and when riding.
Another layer (12/13 storm), was evident and failed during compression tests, but was difficult to trigger (CTH7).
Further down the rain on snow crust from sometime in the week of 12/7 was evident.
Snow is building nicely in the pass. Will be interesting to monitor the snowpack after the freezing rain yesterday (12/21), and warmer temps followed by much snow in the forecast through the the weekend.
