Temperatures are finally dropping below freezing at mid-elevations today and light snow was falling above 4000ft. Winds were calm at 5600ft. Skies were obscured in the morning.
No avalanches observed.
Snowline started at just over 5000ft and by the summit of Evergreen Mountain at 5587ft I found between 15cm and 70cm of snow on sunny and shady aspects, respectively. The entire snowpack was moist, aside from 3cm of dry snow on the surface which had fallen today. No significant layers were found in a snow pit at 5550ft on a northerly aspect. Foot penetration was 20cm.
