Reynolds Peak NE 7400ft |
D1 | WL-Wet Loose | N-Natural | Report |
Observed numerous avalanches (all that I could confirm were wet loose) to size D1.5. x7 on Reynolds Peak massif, NE 7,000-7,500ft. One D1 above Slate Lake on NE, 7,200ft.
Continuous snow began at 6500ft with minimal snow on solars at lower elevation and patchy snow on shaded slopes down to 4,500ft. At upper elevations, height of snow ranged from 50-70cm with drifts to 90cm. In addition to avy obs, saw many roller balls from 11/28.
At 7350ft, SE between Whistler ck and Little Slate ck a profile revealed:
HS 55cm- most snow had been wetted w the top 25cm moist
↓32cm CTM 12 (RP) on 4F hard, 2.0mm, rounding facets
See pit photos
Wet Loose are now unlikely as snow is in various states of refreezing. No other avalanche hazard.
