Warm rains this week melted a lot of snow. Ridges are largely exposed all the way to 8,300'. Patchy snow at 3500 feet deepens gradually (most notably above 6500') to several feet by 8,000'. Above 6500' the snow is covered with a 2-3" thick clear hard ice crust that led to one serious fall. Temps just below freezing above 7700'. After a sunny morning, fog, higher winds, and light rain began at about 1 pm.
