Pit dug on the same aspect at an elevation no more than 400 feet above the observed avalanche suggested relative stability. We saw no failures in an isolated column test. Temperature change appeared to be a factor as we experienced thicker, warmer (not particularly wind affected) snow than we had at lower elevation on our first lap.
