Avalanche: No new avalanches observed. Minor dry loose sluffing from the past 48hrs in steep upper elevation northerly terrain. Rollerballs and pinwheels on solar aspects below treeline.
Snowpack: Continuous snow began near 2000ft. Above 4000ft, up to 40cm (16in) of settled storm snow was well bonded to the 3/18 interface. Very little wind effect observed in terrain up to 6000ft. An inter-storm layer down 20cm (8in) produced easy and sudden failures in hand pits and shovel tilt tests but was unreactive on test slopes on S-E-N aspects. Surface hoar (4-6mm) was widespread above 4000ft. It was unaffected by wind or sun and still intact by 4pm on 3/23.
Weather: Skies were clear early, but became overcast by 10 am with very brief periods of sun during the afternoon.
