Signs of Unstable Snow

None reported

Observations

Partially Cloudy with light WNW winds, 5-10 MPH, Temps at base 18 degrees, rising to 25 degrees by 1PM. Stayed near and below tree line, max incline 35 degrees. Did not see any recent signs of avalanches, could see buried debris under steep cliffs. Wind scouring near ridgline, though on lee aspect (west face). minor drifts on slope. Snowpack had 1-2 inches of surface hoar, lots of hoar frost on trees. underneath that was med firm melt crust. Layer of concern in snow pit was crust 2.5-3 feet deep, CTM (first elbow tap), RP. (repeat test was CTH)
Unable to perform ECT.
Continue to keep route choices very conservative!!!!
