Observations
We heard an avalanche around 12:30 PM along the Methow's cross country Jacks Trail in the Lost River Valley minutes after we passed the "Cassal Avalanche 1997" sign. It lasted about 10-12 seconds and sounded powerful with the heavy rain-soaked snow. 36 degrees out and raining at the time. This area is about 4 miles from Mazama.
