Comments:
Intentionally cut a couple of small wet loose slides on the interface between the new snow and the Solstice (12/21) crust. This was on the path (skier's right of the skin track) from the Slot to the Notch around 3pm. Not shocked that these went as the new/old snow bonding isn't that great above 4500' - skinning was hard at times. It ran about 100m down slope and arrested fairly quickly. WS-ASc-R1-D1-I

Did 2 quick and dirty pits while regrouping. Too ugly/incomplete to put into snowpilot
First one was at 4400', HS190 in the phantom trees area. The 12/21 crust (@160) was softer than observed in locations and had interesting bands of ice and rounds. The 12/9 crust (@90) was soft as well, but not well bonded to the layer above.
Second one was near notch. 5300', SW aspect, HS195. Here the Solstice crust was 30cm thick and pencil hard... bulletproof. The 12/9 crust was at 110 with a small ice layer. Moisture between Solstice and 12/9 crust but 4F hardness all the way down. Temps in the crust were 185(-1.7) and 165(-0.4) not as dramatic as those at Kendall Trees. No stability tests done as I didn't want to break my hand.
