Snow starts just before Lake Serene. We took the North Ridge, which has collapsing slushy snow with terrain traps. Some key areas are fully melted, adding to the challenges presented. Lots of holes in the snow where brush and rocks are beneath. Sometimes holes are very deep. Once above the ridge almost all snow, well consolidated. Signs of significant past avalanches in and near the Hourglass Gully. Gully moat is forming but had a snow bridge. Climbing the gully set off small wet loose avalanches but did not gain significance or keep going very far. Snow sloughing off steep terrain, one such slough set off rockfall above Lake Serene. Sorry no photos, forgot my phone!
