Dryer snow above 3500 ft, wet snow below. About 4-5 inches of new snow above a crusty layer, the new snow was not bonded very well to this bottom layer. On the skin up experienced collapsing on both the wet and dry snow.
The snow pack here is not very deep, so the skin up was interesting with creek crossings and pushing through tree branches and debris.
The day was generally quite warm, we were expecting colder temps, but the area was well protected from the west winds in the forecast.
