Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

Relatively brief, mid-day ski tour exploring lower White River Canyon. Warm weather was fairly sunny w occasional light breezes and minor gusts (easterly, at least for the only one I specifically recall thanks to a plastic bag’s escape attempt).

Snow surface on solar aspects were soft but easily traveled. Observed one party of two ski a relatively steep (35ish, maybe tad more near the lip) 5.6-5.8K’ SE aspect wo incident beyond a seeming crust-break-thru turn every now and again (for their part, they both reported awesome skiing). They and us skied a very soft low 30s S aspect around similar elevation also without incident. All observed descents occurred early afternoon after fair amount of snow warming had occurred.

Said “no” to observed avalanches, though curious if an “avalanche of [prior days’] roller balls” counts (see pic)…or if any earlier wet loose are obscured by aforementioned roller ball hoedown.
