Comments:
Ski cut a steep roll at the top of a minor gully formation above a steep and pillowed slope under tree cover and got an approximately 10 ft wide and maybe 8 inch deep pocket to slide beneath the skier that cut the slope. It ran down the steep pillowed slope slope and gained a good deal of speed and entrained snow as it went before running into trees below. (It ran about 100 vertical feet). Was certainly fast and big enough to take somebody for a ride and possibly bury them. The slide fanned out as it descended and did not cause any widespread propagation. no wind effect was noticed we also did not observe any shooting cracks or woompfing.
The warm temps made the snow quite heavy and roller balls were observed. Rough estimate of 1.5 ft of fresh snow over the rain crust at 4,400 ft. Closer to 1 ft or less over the crust where there was more tree cover.
Slide was triggered around 11:30 AM
