Comments:
Old crown, likely from yesterday. Multiple crown lines were visible at the base of steep cliffs, partially buried from last nights snow. It was hard to tell if they were connected or separate releases, but overall they covered approx 100-150 ft along base of cliffs. Ran approx 100 ft
Did you see shooting cracks?
Yes, Isolated
Did you experience collapsing or whumpfing?
No
We noticed a few overlapping avalanche problems today. In some areas there was wind-stiffened snow that was largely unreactive to ski cuts on test slopes. The exception was when we briefly traveled across a south face, where the sun crust from Fri appeared to provide a better bed surface. This was the one place we saw shooting cracks, and observed some debris lower down.
On open, n-facing terrain, we could get the top 6-7" of new snow to move in hand pits. It appeared to be sliding on preserved surface hoar, which we observed yesterday in other locations. In general though, these slabs were stubborn and not very reactive, even on steeper slopes.
