08:50 at the parking area at the end of the plowed road up the Icicle, light rain (RL) was observed, which quickly turned to very light snow (S-1) as we gained <100'; of elevation before stopping at ~09:15. Cloud cover was overcast (OVC) as we travelled, with wind calm. Skies opened to broken (BKN) cover at ~13:00 with light wind.
Small (D1) wet loose slides observed, no indicators of persistent slab problem observed
Snowpack structure we observed was mostly stable, with test results that indicated the presence of weaknesses in the structure, but the lack of reactivity. While there is a layer of rounding facets above the Christmas Crust, we did not observe signs of reactivity on this layer. CT24 (Q2). Minimal warming appeared to have occurred in the Icicle during the most recent precipitation, with small wet loose slides running on the old/new snow interface.
We did not observe indicators of the persistent slab problem where we travelled.
