Widespread wind slabs were observed in the Tilly Jane area of Mt. Hood on Monday and Tuesday (1/2 & 1/3) in both the burn and alpine areas below the Elliot Glacier, all the way up to Cooper Spur (5000-7500ft), but not below treeline. The slabs were located on the leeward faces of ridge lines (North facing), where whumpfing and shooting cracks were abundant. Small slabs (1-1.5 in deep) easily released on test slopes by skiers.
