Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

We dug into the snow on a qest aspect at 6200 ft. Saw the 12/8 and 12/18 layers, both of which had easy to spot (no loop!) persistent grains. Shovel tilt test looking at 12/18 layer had no result. When we stomped above the pit to fill it back in, a slab popped out on what we believe is the 12/8 layer.

On the west slope between 6600 and 6000 ft we saw lots of wind texture and what looked like hoar that had been blown around and knocked down. Skiing was expectedly sporting. Like duck duck goose but pow pow wind board.
