Widespread surface hoar still persists in the 5200 - 5600ft band on shaded NE, N and NW aspects in Silver Basin. Monday's warming and Tuesday's inversion wiped out the hoar (which was noted in previous reports) at lower and upper elevations respectively. I was surprised to find hoar still sticking around within this band. Crystals averaged 1.5cm in length comprising the upper 3cm of pack. We've had a lot of clear nights and it definitely seems to have grown since Sunday. If temperatures stay cold and next week's cycle delivers (fingers crossed on both counts), then this may create some surprises on the lower portions of some popular runs around here.
