Skiing into the east aspect cliffs in Campbell bowl I speed checked, triggering a very small soft/storm slab, a few inches deep and maybe 5 feet wide. I stayed on my feet above the cliff but even this small amount of snow was enough to prevent a controlled entrance to the drop, essentially pulling my skis in opposite directions and sending me head first into the shallow end, so to speak. Luckily it was the small section of the cliffs instead of the big section and I skied away. Sharing so that others can benefit from my sharp reminder that a tiny amount of moving snow above a terrain trap can have serious consequences, even in-bounds.
