Snowshoe Programs
NWAC x USFS Snowshoe Walks
It's important to recognize that snowshoeing isn't simply winter hiking. Join the Northwest Avalanche Center and the US Forest Service Snowshoe Program for a guided snowshoe walk with a focus on Avalanche Awareness. Participants will learn how to read the NWAC avalanche forecast, recognize signs of avalanche danger, and identify terrain where avalanches happen.
This program is run by the US Forest Service in collaboration with Discover Your Northwest. Registration is run through Discover Your Northwest.

Program Details
- Snowshoe Walks are donation based
- Walks are offered at Snoqualmie Pass and Mt Baker
- Snowshoes and poles are available to borrow at no cost
- We suggest that participants with no prior snowshoe experience join a basic snowshoe walk prior to joining an Avalanche Awareness Walk
