Courses by External Providers

We are fortunate to have many great guide services in the Pacific Northwest who teach Avalanche Level 1, Level 2, and Rescue courses approved by the American Avalanche Association. See the list below for upcoming course offerings by providers in Washington and Oregon.

Please note that these courses are not run by The Northwest Avalanche Center. NWAC offers a number of other workshops and programs across the Northwest region.

Tips from NWAC

  • Consider taking an Avalanche Awareness Class prior to a Level 1 to learn the fundamental principles of avalanches.
  • Students using skis, splitboard, or a snowmachine on their course should be proficient with their gear and movement skills prior to the course. Consider taking an Intro to Touring or a riding skills course first.
  • The Level 2 course builds on the topics introduced in a Level 1. You will get the most out of your Level 2 if you get plenty of experience in the backcountry following the Level 1.
