NWAC offers free avalanche classes throughout our forecast area. These classes are introductory presentations geared towards the novice wintertime backcountry user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benefits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Instructors are contract workers compensated $150 per in-person class and $100 per virtual class. Instructors will be required to fill out a W-9 upon employment. Instructors also receive a discount to NWAC events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Qualifications &amp; How To Apply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In an effort to utilize the skills of experienced avalanche instructors as well as to provide pathways for aspiring snow and avalanche educators, there are two types of Awareness Instructors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Experienced Avalanche Instructors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aspiring Avalanche Instructors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Find required experience and the application link for each type of instructor below. Instructors must primarily reside in Washington or Oregon during the winter season in order to be eligible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Experienced Avalanche Instructors<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Experienced Avalanche Instructors are those who have a PRO 1 and ITC or equivalent. We take a small number of experienced educators each season to round out our instructor roster. We hire experienced instructors based on our geographic and organizational needs. You must meet all requirements listed below to apply as an experienced instructor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Experience and Credentials<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A3 Pro 1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ITC or equivalent (certified to teach recreational avalanche courses for an A3 provider)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5+ years recreating in the wintertime mountains<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You must be qualified to teach recreational AIARE courses (or recreational Level 1s and 2s for another A3 approved provider) to apply as an experienced instructor.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This season we are only hiring experienced instructors who primarily reside in the following geographic areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cle Elum\/Ellensburg<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Randle\/Packwood\/Yakima<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leavenworth\/Wenatchee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Olympic Peninsula<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Portland\/Hood River<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Experienced Instructor Training (mandatory)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>September 22 (Sunday) from 10am-2pm: In-Person (North Bend, WA)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-8057eaf3 wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSeAFtGCCgDb7JhbJq-pAAJYiRFJEgoDDEeCfJxn4VrTxqjYyg\/viewform?usp=sf_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Apply as an Experienced Instructor<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aspiring Avalanche Instructors<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Teaching Avalanche Awareness classes can be a great first step for those looking to work in the snow and avalanche industry.
